Eleven Trips Around the Sun

Eleven trips around the sun collage

Today my daughter turns eleven.

Eleven trips around the sun. Eleven years of learning, growing, and discovering who she is becoming. Sometimes it feels like time moves slowly while you're living through the long days of parenting… and then suddenly you look up and realize how much has changed.

I still remember the days when she would fall asleep on my chest, holding onto me like I was her entire world. Those quiet moments felt endless at the time. Now they feel like tiny treasures I carry with me.

Watching her grow into her own person has been one of the most beautiful and challenging journeys of my life. She is fearless, expressive, strong-willed, and deeply loving — the kind of soul that reminds me every day that growth is rarely quiet, but it is always meaningful.

Parenting a neurodivergent child has taught me to slow down, to listen more closely, and to celebrate progress in ways that the world doesn’t always recognize.

Today I’m not just celebrating her birthday. I’m celebrating the resilience, courage, and tenderness that have shaped both of us over these eleven years.

Happy birthday, sweet girl. You are growing into someone truly extraordinary, and I am so grateful to walk beside you on this journey.
